Flight Simulator
Over recent years, both staff and cadets have been planning, designing and building their own flight simulator based around a fast jet cockpit.
The cockpit is loosely based on a Tornado F3 fighter and incorporates a desktop simulator program complete with throttle, control column and rudder pedals.
However, we felt that any cadet could run a desktop simulator at home. Instead we decided to incorporate a circuit board which runs numerous toggle switches and in turn replaces the keyboard allowing for a realistic experience whilst flying.
Not content with stopping there, we had our team create a six hour flight training programme complete with navigation and ground crew roles to enhance the experience in the absence of operational flying slots.
The simulator continues to be enhanced and upgraded as new software and funds become available.
